Sapa is a frontier township and capital of Sapa District in Lao Cai Province in north-west Vietnam. It was first inhabited by people about whom nothing is known. They left in the entire valley hundreds of petroglyphs, mostly composed of lines, which experts think date from the 15th century and represent local cadastres. The township is one of the main market ones in the area, where several ethnic minority groups such as Hmong, Dao (Yao), Giay (Dzay), Pho Lu, and Tày live. Lao Chai & Ta Van villages are settled by the Dzay ethnic and keep trekking down to the bottom of Sapa valley which is supposed to be the most beautiful one in the area.

Also located along Muong Hoa Valley like Lao Chai and Ta Van but Su Pan commune can be referred to as “mountainous commune” – where we will explore on the 3rd day.

Day 03: Su Pan – Ta Phin – Ha Noi

Su Pan includes 4 small hamlets of the Black H’mong and Red Zao looking down to the Muong Hoa Valley and is one of the poorest communes to Sapa due to the thin and poor soil. Walking uphill from the road, one can see rudimentary houses built on the rocky farmland where the locals cultivate corn for their staple food.

Next on the trip, we come to Ta Phin Village which is located 17 km northeast from SaPa center. On the way from the town to the village, tourists will be able to enjoy the extremely beautiful scenery.
